The best way to help children succeed in life is to never shy away from pushing them to challenge themselves, and one of the best ways that they can learn is by going to a youth leadership camp. IOI Foundation (formerly known as Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng) organised a 3D/2N IOI Leadership Youth Camp 2023 from 28 to 30 August 2023 at White Resort Camp, Balik Pulau, Penang, which welcomed 28 teens (aged 13 to 17 years old) who learnt how to enhance their leadership skills, build better self-con dence and foster teamwork under the professional guidance of MAD (Make A Difference) Movement, a subsidiary of well-known cause-driven leadership development organisation, Leaderonomics.

Our aspiring youths, who are also children of our IOI Oleochemical Industries Berhad’s (IOI Oleo) employees, were divided into five groups to participate in various activities such as obstacle courses, team building exercises as well as indoor and outdoor games. Not only that, there were also leadership and sustainability workshops where they learnt about communication and problem-solving skills (6 Thinking Hats) in the former and all 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals in the latter which helped them appreciate our environment and the importance of preserving it for future generations. The camp was a successful life-changing experience for our bright and bubbly youths as they gained the confidence and global perspective required to lead change within themselves and their community.
