Christmas invites us to give the gift of love and love to the unfortunate. It is a season where we can make a positive impact in the lives of the underprivileged. Nothing beats the priceless smiles of hope, and on 5 December 2023, 18 beneficiaries from schools, orphanages, animal shelters and various non-profit organisations came with grateful hearts to receive the gift of love from Bargain Basement.
Founder of Bargain Basement and IOI Foundation (formerly called Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng) Executive Director Datin Joanne Wong has tirelessly championed Bargain Basement’s vision to declutter and give used items a second life. More importantly, she has championed the cause of the underprivileged by donating all the proceeds to them. This time, Bargain Basement contributed RM400,000 of its net proceeds, bringing to a total of almost RM1,000,000 since its inception in 2016. In the same spirit of giving, IOI Foundation, together with IOI City Mall (ICM) and IOI Mall Puchong, brought the house down at ICM with cheers and laughter. As we spread the joy of Christmas with RM60,000 to Rumah Charis, Shalom Nursing Home and Pertubuhan Anak Yatim Darul Aminan, ICM whisked the 30 children to a magical day to learn all about plants and animals at the 18,000 square feet IOI City Farm. The fun continued with a whirlwind of action-packed excitement at District 21 followed by a gingerbread decoration workshop by Hogan Bakery. The children grinned ear to ear as they enjoyed a merry meal, mouth-watering desserts and Christmas gifts. |
