Scholarship Awards
Since 1998, IOI Foundation has awarded more than RM11.1 million to 337 students. IOI Foundation aims to encourage, support and invest in higher education for qualified Malaysian youth, contributing towards the nurturing of talent in the country.
We have been offering scholarships to academically outstanding students pursuing full-time undergraduate studies in local institutions of higher learning in Malaysia.
While pursuing their respective courses, the scholars undergo practical training or internships related to their future job. Upon graduation, they are provided with career opportunities within the IOI Group, gaining professional experience and enhancing their skills in leading a global corporation.
We seek to attract talent with leadership qualities. If you feel confident enough, we would love to meet you. To apply for our scholarship and know more about our scholars, read more here.
Student Adoption Programme
Student Adoption Programme
Our Student Adoption Programme ("Program Bantuan Pelajar") was officially launched by the Deputy Education Minister in 2008 to provide underprivileged students with equal access to basic education. Since its inception, we have successfully adopted more than 1,500 students from 204 schools within the vicinity of IOI’s plantation and property development projects. To date, the disbursed value is more than RM5 milion.
Under this programme, qualified needy adopted students will receive a school bag and cash assistance of RM1,000 for primary students and RM1,200 for secondary school students each year. By supporting and monitoring their educational needs, the foundation hopes to motivate them to excel in their studies along with easing the financial burden of their families.
Young Achiever Awards
Initiated in 1999, The Young Achievers Awards was introduced to invigorate and motivate children of IOI employees in striving for excellence in their studies. Cash awards, plaques and certificates of achievement are given out in an annual ceremony to reward the outstanding academic results and active curricular participation of the student recipients. In this annual event, young achievers and parents get together for a ceremony of recognition, gratitude and the pursuit of constant improvement where motivational talks are also held to develop and engage the award recipients towards continuously striving and excelling in future undertakings.
To date, IOI Foundation has given RM650,585 worth of cash prizes to approximately 1,626 young achievers in recognising their spirit of excellence. This award serves as a platform in celebrating the positive achievements of students and in inspiring them to value the importance of education.
IOI-STEM
STEM is more than just an acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM is a skill or a philosophy in a way. STEM is an approach and a way of thinking for educators – and, to a certain extent, parents – to help students integrate knowledge across subjects by incorporating flipped learning and encouraging them to think in a more logical and holistic way in order to be equipped with 21st century skills.
The subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics is where students learn the skills to gather and study information (investigative skills of science), evaluate and make sense of information (analytical skills of mathematics) and determine how the information can solve a problem (inventive skills of engineering) using the technology available to them today.
IOI Foundation is a keen supporter of the integration of STEM into students’ education. Read more here on our initiatives to promote STEM.

Building of Schools
Our educational assistance includes the funding of schools in the construction of new buildings in accommodating a more comfortable study environment for the students. SJK(C) Shin Cheng (formerly SJK(C) Harcroft) is our very own funded school situated in our township of Bandar Puchong Jaya. The school has 3 blocks including a science lab, library, music room, a basketball court and a multipurpose hall which accommodates 1,980 students and 89 teachers. We have also funded, amongst other schools, a substantial part of the new block and hostel in Kuen Cheng High School. We have disbursed nearly RM27 million to the building of schools since 2000.
