IOI Foundation | Supporting School Buildings for Conducive Learning

Initiated and fully funded the construction of SJK (C) Shin Cheng, a Chinese-medium primary school in Bandar Puchong Jaya.
From land acquisition (over 5 acres) to the construction of two 4-storey blocks comprising 30 classrooms, a canteen, basketball court, open field, assembly area, and security guardhouse.
Establishment of a primary school with modern and comprehensive facilities.
Impact: The school provides increased access to education for children within the vicinity, currently accommodating more than 1,980 students and 89 teachers. The ongoing initiative shall be reviewed and implemented annually to accommodate the increasing number of students and teachers in the school.

The 111-year-old Kuen Cheng High School underwent significant redevelopment, which included the construction of a new academic block and a hostel. This initiative provided enhanced facilities for students, including new learning spaces and accommodation.
The ambitious project was led by Tan Sri Dato' Lee Shin Cheng. He not only provided substantial financial support for the infrastructure development but also spearheaded the fundraising campaign. Tan Sri Dato' Lee tirelessly rallied numerous prominent business leaders and philanthropists to support the school's redevelopment, engaging them through board participation and active fundraising efforts. His personal commitment was evident through his frequent site visits to monitor the construction progress, ensuring the vision for Kuen Cheng High School came to fruition.
Impact: The expansion improved the overall educational experience for more than 2,200 students (1,094 students in Kuen Cheng 1 and 1,119 students in Kuen Cheng 2) with the increase in number of classrooms and hostel capacity.

Our support is multifaceted, extending beyond simple construction to meet the unique needs of each institution. Our initiatives range from the ground-up development of entirely new schools, such as SJK(C) Shin Cheng, to leading the ambitious redevelopment of historical institutions like Kuen Cheng High School. We also provide targeted funding for essential facilities and transform existing areas into vibrant, purposeful learning spaces. We are dedicated to providing students with the safe, modern, and inspiring infrastructure needed for a quality education.
Impact: The completed multipurpose hall enhances the school’s learning experience by providing a dedicated space for almost 1,000 students with sports, clubs, and other extra-curricular activities, fostering their social development and active lifestyles.

IOI Foundation supported SMK Bandar Putra 2 by transforming two areas into a Reading Corner and a Road Safety Education Corner, completed in November 2024.
The Reading Corner aims to ignite a lifelong passion for reading, offering diverse books to expand students' imagination, knowledge, and literacy skills.
The Road Safety Education Corner focuses on equipping students with vital road safety knowledge to foster responsible behaviour and ensure their well-being.
This initiative significantly contributed to SMK Bandar Putra 2 being selected as Johor's representative for the national-level "3K Icon School" competition, an award recognising excellence in school Cleanliness, Health, and Safety.
Impact: The initiative demonstrates its commitment by investing in education and safety, empowering students with essential skills and values, and uplifting the community.
