Echoes of Excellence on Platform
In the world of public speaking, young voices have the power to inspire profound change. This was clearly seen as 66 young orators from six schools in Puchong took to the podium in IOI Public Speaking Program 2024. After nearly two months of preparation, these talented speakers demonstrated their finesse and enthusiasm at the spectacular grand finale on 29 June 2024 at SJK (C) Shin Cheng Multipurpose Hall. The event, organised by IOI Foundation (formerly known as Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng), was a testament to their dedication and passion for public speaking.
The grand finale brimmed with anticipation as 42 students from SJK (C) Shin Cheng, SJK (T) Ladang Kinrara, and SK Puchong Perdana competed in three categories - Standard 4 to Standard 6. These young ones wowed everyone with their eloquence and confidence. The judges - IOI Foundation Executive Director Datin Joanne Wong, IOI Corporation Berhad Assistant General Manager (Group Operations) Mr Ryan Lee, and the Founder of Tinker Society Ms Angeline Lo were all impressed by the participants' powerful performances.
In the afternoon, the spotlight shifted to 24 students from SMK Seksyen 1 Bandar Kinrara, SMK Seksyen 4 Bandar Kinrara, and SMK Bandar Puchong Jaya A. Competing in Form 1 to 3, and Form 4 to 5 categories, they were evaluated by Toastmasters experts Mohamad Abdullah, Kenny Chia, and Chang Jin Wang. The participants' speeches were a testament to their hard work and the skills they honed for nearly two months.
A total of 15 young champions walked away with well-deserved prizes, including Bargain Basement vouchers, District 21 passes, IOI City Farm tickets and ice-skating tickets.
The IOI Public Speaking Program 2024 was a great success, giving these young speakers a platform to shine. Speak up, they did - boldly, eloquently, and with a spark that left a lasting impression on everyone.
