Hand-in-Hand for Dialysis Patients
A patient with kidney disease has to endure four hours of dialysis treatment, three times a week. Not only does the patient have to battle physical and emotional stress, he or she has to bear a huge financial burden. Imagine what it would be like for low income or unemployed patients, especially amidst the current Covid-19 pandemic. Madam Lee Ah Poi is a 68-year-old widow who lives with her daughter. A double amputee with high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney failure, she is just one of many underprivileged dialysis patients in our society. But thanks to the charitable hearts of Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng (Yayasan TSLSC) and Great Heart Charity Association (Great Heart), these individuals are able to continue their treatment.
Yayasan TSLSC donated RM20,000 in August 2021 towards Great Heart’s Hand-in-Hand Charity Dialysis Aid Programme. A non-profit charity association established in 2010, Great Heart’s Care in hand, Love in heart motto is reflected in its five other programmes (You & Me Educational Programme, Great Heart Community Centre, Earth Warriors Programme, Great Vision Charity Association and Geng Xin Tang). Together, we can help ease these dialysis patients’ financial burden and grant a living hope to them by extending care in hand and love in heart.
