By having the scholarship, I can focus on my studies without worrying about my tuition fees in university. Besides that, I have a chance to gain working experience and knowledge in IOI while serving my bond.

Working in IOI enables me to be independent in making decisions as well as have hands-on experience in oil palm research. Among my daily tasks are the ongoing research of new technologies in studying the genome of oil palm, study the nutrient requirement of oil palm tissue cultures, study genome and markers used in oil palm breeding as well as how to apply my bioinformatics knowledge in my work.

What I like most about my job is that I get to meet different people from different areas of study and have a chance to work with them. In the meantime, I get to broaden my knowledge in many aspects in order to be on par with them. It also gives me the chance to keep challenging myself to achieve a higher goal.
